  1. Follow the care instructions on the garment's tag. Each piece of Patagonia clothing has a tag with care instructions that are specific to that item. Always follow these instructions to avoid damaging the garment.

  2. Wash in cold water. Patagonia recommends washing their clothing in cold water to reduce energy consumption and prevent shrinkage.

  3. Use a mild detergent. Harsh detergents can damage the fabric and reduce the lifespan of the garment. Patagonia recommends using a mild detergent that is specifically designed for outdoor apparel.

  4. Avoid fabric softeners. Fabric softeners can clog the pores in the fabric, reducing the garment's ability to wick moisture and regulate temperature.

  5. Tumble dry low or air dry. Patagonia clothing can be tumble dried on low heat, but air drying is always preferred to reduce energy consumption and prolong the life of the garment.

  6. Repair before replacing. Patagonia encourages customers to repair their clothing rather than replacing it. They offer a repair program that can fix damaged clothing and gear for a reasonable fee.

By following these care instructions, customers can help extend the life of their Patagonia products and reduce their impact on the environment.
