A military-inspired suit of armour for battling frigid temps, this lightweight, fully seam sealed and waterproof Sundial Peak Jacket from Columbia delivers a heat-packing combination of down insulation and Omni-Heat thermal reflective lining. The removable hood features detachable synthetic fur, a drawcord adjustable hem and a bevy of cargo pockets to stash your stuff.
Omni-Shield delivers protection from the outdoors where you least expect it but need it most. This coated fabric resists all liquids below 170ordm; F from absorbing into the yarns and staining the garment (without any effect on the feel of the material). The fabric itself will also dry 3-5 times faster than untreated fabric, without holding moisture like a conventional fabric, meaning it stays lighter even when its wet.
Omni-Heat® Thermal Reflective:
This thermal reflective technology helps regulate your temperature by reflecting and retaining the warmth your body generates, while dissipating moisture and excess heat to keep you comfortable.
Down is a natural insulator with a high warmth-to-weight ratio. It is produced from a layer of fine feathers found under the tougher exterior feathers of ducks or geese. Down offers excellent thermal properties, has good lofting characteristics and traps small pockets of air efficiently, which creates a thermal barrier. Down insulation is rated by fill power, measured as the number of cubic inches displaced by a given ounce of down (in³/oz). Higher fill-power down will insulate better than lower fill-power down of the same weight.
