Details
Roscoe 9 is Trek's best trail hardtail, built for lap after lap of dirt-filled fun.
The tech you get
A lightweight aluminum frame, a 140mm FOX Rhythm fork with beefy 36mm stanchions, a Shimano SLX/XT 1x12 drivetrain with a wide range of gears for climbing, powerful 4-piston brakes, and a dropper post for room to get low on descents, corners, and jumps.
- 29er wheels and wide 2.6" tires make for a grippy, confident, and fast-rolling ride
- Bigger, stiffer 36mm fork stanchions won't flex, so you can push harder with more precise, confident steering that helps you stay on your line
- The FOX fork's air spring can easily be adjusted for a specific rider weight, and it's lighter and far smoother than a coil spring
- The dropper post lets you lower your saddle on the fly, so it's out of the way on descents
Upgrades on this bike from the Roscoe 8:
- FOX Rhythm 36 fork
- Shimano SLX/XT drivetrain
- Powerful Shimano M6120 4-piston hydraulic brakes

Trek Roscoe 7, 8, and 9 models come tubeless out of the box. Sealant, valves, and rim stips included.
Ditching the tubes and going tubeless will help you get the most performance out of your tires. There are no tubes to pinch, so you can run lower pressures for better traction, and you get more control and a smoother, faster ride. As an added bonus, a tubeless setup can help seal punctures before they become flats.
We really like the simplicity of a hardtail. No extra pivots and parts to maintain, easier to clean after a muddy ride, and keeps you connected to the trial. Top notch spec on the Roscoe 9, at the same price of an entry level full suspension.
We often get the question - Roscoe 9 or Fuel EX 5? Hard tail or full suspension.
A hardtail can be great to start on, as it forces you to pick good, smooth lines and you may learn more on a hardtail . But - if you're riding steep, rocky, trails, a full suspension bike will keep your back wheel on the ground for superior descending control - and it cushions the bumps for you that your legs would otherwise be absorbing.
