Picking the correct ski size?
There is no one size for one height and weight. The general rule is to pick a ski that is going to land somewhere between your chin and the top of your head. Within your size range there are multiple reasons to choose a shorter or longer ski.
Reasons for Shorter Ski’s, closer to your chin:
- beginner or intermediate skier
- Your weight is lighter than average for your height
- You like to make short, quick turns
Reasons to size your skis longer, closer to the top of your head:
- skiing fast and aggressively
- You weigh more than average for your height
- The majority of your skiing off the trail
- Skis have significant rocker in the tip
A shorter ski will be easier to turn yet not as stable as a longer ski. A carving ski with a skinnier waist and a smaller turn radius can be skied at a shorter length than an all mountain or a freeride ski with larger, longer turn radius and fatter waist width.
The lightest wide touring ski Salomon ever made is carbon-reinforced to minimize uphill effort, and leave you with more energy to go beyond your comfort zone on the way down.
Salomon’s exclusive Cork Damplifier is visibly integrated into the tip of the ski. It filters terrain vibrations and creates a more stable ski no matter the snow conditions.
Made to last with up to 40% sustainable materials, this ski is part of Salomon’s untiring sustainability efforts aimed at minimizing our product’s impact on the environment.
