Details

Lightweight and ready for anything, Atomic Backland 100 is a freeride touring ski that climbs as fast as it skis.

Lightweight, wide and strong, Atomic Backland 100 is one of the most versatile freeride touring skis in the Backland collection and capable of performing in the widest range of snow conditions and in any terrain.

Built for adventurous days in the mountains, the Ultra Power Woodcore and Full Sidewall construction offers the perfect combination of lightweight touring capabilities and versatile freeride functionality.

A Carbon Backbone runs the length of the ski like a backbone, providing exceptional agility and solid edge grip on the down. Intuitive and easy to handle, the revolutionary HRZN Tech in the tip allows the ski to bust through even the most challenging conditions.

For the ultimate freeride touring set up, Atomic also offers pre-fit skins to match.

HRZN Tech Tip

HRZN Tech adds 10% more surface area at your ski tips. For awesome flotation in powder plus less tip deflection and better tracking through chop.

Ultra Light Woodcore

The combination of caruba and poplar wood makes this core ultra light, for skis that are all about low weight.

Carbon Backbone

An ultra-lightweight carbon insert that runs the length of the ski like a stabilizing backbone.

Fiberglass

Continuous fiberglass layers create a ski that is smooth and stable while remaining lightweight and dynamic.

Dura Cap Sidewall

Sidewall from base to topsheet for controlled power transmission and great edge grip. The rounded shape of the Dura Cap is a fantastic durability feature as it picks up fewer dents and dings.

Picking the correct ski size?

There is no one size for one height and weight. The general rule is to pick a ski that is going to land somewhere between your chin and the top of your head. Within your size range there are multiple reasons to choose a shorter or longer ski.

Reasons for Shorter Ski’s, closer to your chin:

  • beginner or intermediate skier
  • Your weight is lighter than average for your height
  • You like to make short, quick turns

Reasons to size your skis longer, closer to the top of your head:

  • skiing fast and aggressively
  • You weigh more than average for your height
  • The majority of your skiing off the trail
  • Skis have significant rocker in the tip

A shorter ski will be easier to turn yet not as stable as a longer ski. A carving ski with a skinnier waist and a smaller turn radius can be skied at a shorter length than an all mountain or a freeride ski with larger, longer turn radius and fatter waist width.
