The previous version of the Anima was a favorite, but Castelli felt we could make it better. Aside from some small cosmetic updates, the biggest improvement is an update to the ProSecco Velo Donna fabric to make it softer and more comfortable. This Italian-made fabric is exclusive to Castelli and makes the new Anima 4 feel like it can’t be an entry-level jersey. The details on this jersey are what set it apart: the perfect fit, the raised stitching detailing, the classy discreet logos, the easy-sliding zipper, and the reflective details. And one final feature to make you choose this jersey is the sun protection. This fabric is rated at UPF 45, meaning it’s filtering out nearly 98% of harmful UV rays despite weighing only 120 grams per square meter.

You can officially only rate these warmers at UPF 50+, but in the laboratory tests they actually blocked 99.8 percent of damaging UV rays. Castelli used a polyester base that is not only more effective than nylon at blocking UV rays but is also much better at keeping you dry, which means these arm sleeves are better in both cooler and warmer conditions. Castelli kept the construction very clean to eliminate seams that can rub, and used the double-sided silicone elastic to make sure they stay in place. They fold up extremely small, so they’re great to stick in your pockets for your next big mountain day.
